Svaty Jur Patron Celebrations 2016

The city of Svaty Jur holds festivities to celebrate their patron, the Saint George. They last from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.

I was again a part of the organisational team for this year and I shot some great photos again, that should motivate you to attend and enjoy the festivities in the future. I chose only a handful of photos to show you that the festivities are for everybody no matter of their interests or hobbies. A bigger selection can be seen on my facebook page: :-)

The main square inhabited the main stage, in addition to the ubiquitous stands with food and carnival crap. It accommodated performances of musicians and dancers. We had Janek Ledecky, Buty, Para, Katarina Koscova, Samuel Tomecek and others this year. The Saturday and Sunday early afternoon it all belonged to kindergarten kids of Svaty Jur. The art of amateur theatre J.U.R.T.A. and concerts of lesser-known alternative bands were held in Scheidlin’s garden. You could find and also shoot some arrows in the Palffy mansion where Vinedi archers camped. In addition to this, you could visit various exhibitions, taste fine wines, take a ride on the carousel, cheer football players or compete with RC Models on one of the best tracks of Slovakia. If you got up early on Saturday, you would enjoy fried fish or maybe try to pitch a target with fish-hook in Jursky Sur at the lake. A new addition to this years lineup was the Volunteer Firefighting Squad of Svaty Jur, that has been reestablished after a loooong time.

As you can see, there was a lot going on in Svaty Jur during that weekend. I’ll add also past celebrations so you could see how my photography skills evolved. Enjoy the photos.
